POLICE are appealing for information after an attempted murder on a man at a house in Saltcoats.
The 41-year-old man left with a serious head injury after the incident early on Sunday morning.
Police described how, at a round 2.20am, officers were called to a report of a man injured after being seriously assaulted in a house on Bartonholm Terrace in Kilwinning.
The Scottish Ambulance Service also attended and the man was taken to Crosshouse Hospital and then later transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he is being for a head injury.
Hospital staff describe his condition as serious but stable.
Detective constable Jennifer Carruth, at Saltcoats Police Office, said: “Officers have been carrying out enquiries to establish more information on the circumstances surrounding this incident, which we are treating as attempted murder.
“I would ask anyone with any information that may be able to assist our investigation to contact Saltcoats Police Office through 101 quoting reference number 0614 of December 16, 2018.”
