A man has been rushed to hospital following a brawl inside an Indian restaurant in Glasgow's Merchant City.

Police vans, paramedics and an ambulance raced to Madha restaurant on Albion Street around 9.20pm where the victim was found.

The 44-year-old was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where his medical condition is unknown.

A 45-year-old man was subsequently arrested in connection with the disturbance.

Passersby were reported to have been directed away from the area as officers carried out enquiries.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "Around 9.20pm on Monday night, police were called to a report of a disturbance inside a restaurant on Albion Street.

"Emergency services attended and a 44-year-old man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

"A 45-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident."
