A DAD is lighting up Kilbirnie with a spectacular charity Christmas display at his house.

Jamie Renton says that people have been coming from all over Ayrshire and beyond to view his stunning lights.

And the annual dazzling display is all for a good cause as visitors can donate to a collection bucket.

Money raised by will go towards The Butterfly Trust and a defibrillator fund for the local Premier Milton store.

Jamie has been illuminating his home in Castle Drive for the last few Decembers.

But this year is his biggest display yet, thanks to donations of lights from members of the public.

The dad of four told the Herald: “It’s getting bigger every year. There’s folk coming up from all over.

“We had a switch-on the other week and over 100 folk were in the street. The children were delighted.

“I think we’ve only bought one light – the rest have been donated by people, which is phenomenal.

“Me and my wife made a ‘North Pole’ sign out of scrap wood from the garden and put tinsel on it. I fit all the lights myself.

“We are doing it for charity and all funds raised will go to two great local charities. We’ve got a donations bucket outside if anyone wants to stick anything in. We’ll be doing it every year so going forward, two different charities will be chosen every time.

“I’m doing an American theme next year. Christmas lights are big in American houses – they light up their whole roofs.”

Jamie’s lights are on from 4.30-10pm every night at 17 Castle Drive.
