LOCAL young people ensured that it really was the most wonderful time of the year for shoppers at Princes Square in Glasgow recently.

Choirs from Garnock Academy, Gateside and Beith Primary Schools along with Cumnock Academy and other schools across the country performed carols and festive songs to help raise funds for Ayrshire charity Hansel.

Agnes Paton, Hansel’s Fundraising and Communications Manager, said: “Christmas is a wonderful time of the year and many people look forward to hearing the traditional Christmas carols being sung. We are delighted that Princes Square have supported Hansel’s Christmas Festival of Choirs again this year and allowed us to hold a fundraising can collection at the same time.

“Singing carols at Christmas is a great way to bring families and friends together over the festive season as we’ve seen this week with the mums and dads, grans and grandpa’s, friends and neighbours who have come along to watch the children perform for Hansel.

“We are so grateful to all the children, teachers and helpers who make this and our other carol singing events such a big success. We have been very lucky to be able to send choirs to a wide variety of venues all across Ayrshire over the past two weeks.
