YOUTH groups and projects from across the Three Towns and Garnock Valley are celebrating after being awarded a total of £19,386 through North Ayrshire Council’s latest round of Youth Participatory Budgeting.

56 clubs and groups from across North Ayrshire received a share of £50,000 through the scheme, with over 6,468 young people aged eight to 25 voting via the Young Scot website on which of the shortlisted projects they’d like to see funded in their community.

Councillor Shaun Macaulay, North Ayrshire Council’s Youth Champion, said: “We would like to congratulate all of the groups and organisations who have been successful in this latest round of budgeting.

“With Scotland’s Year of Young People now coming to an end, we hope that these projects can help to build a legacy that will last well beyond 2018.

“Having a say on how this money is spent empowers young people, fostering a real sense of responsibility and allowing them to make an impact on their communities.”
