NORTH Ayrshire police’s youth volunteers had their passing out parade last week.

Police Scotland Youth Volunteer (PSYV) recruits attended the special ceremony at Irvine Royal Academy to mark the culmination of their induction and training.

The young volunteers were presented with certificates by Superintendent Tim Ross and North Ayrshire Provost Ian Clarkson at the ceremony on Thursday, December 20.

Superintendent Tim Ross of Ayrshire Division said: “It’s exciting to be here at the start of something new. It’s really good to see you progress, don’t doubt the contribution young people can have in improving the safety and wellbeing of people and communities in Scotland.”

Supported by adult volunteers and led by a police constable, the PSYV volunteer at community events to support officers. The PSYV programme aims to strengthen the relationship with the police and young people, breaking down barriers and promoting positive role models and good citizenship.
