A LONG-SERVING membe r of staff at an Ardrossan school said an emotional goodbye as she retired just before Christmas.

June McConnell worked at James McFarlane School for 12 years and the admin assistant was honoured with a whole school event on Friday, December 21. Staff and pupils enjoyed tea and cakes and June was presented with flowers and gifts.

Lesley Ward, Acting Depute Head at James McFarlane, said: “June will be very much missed in the school.

“She is the ‘face’ of James McFarlane as she is the first person people visiting the school will meet.

“She has provided support to staff in the school for many years and our pupils will also miss their visits to he reach morning.
