AN Irvine drama group for those with additional support needs has raised a generous sum for an Ayrshire community charity.

Volunteers at Irvine’s Ifound Drama group presented a cheque to Hansel for £200.

The donation was raised from the sale of old DVDs and CDs and copies of a special Christmas song specially written by the group’s founder Johnny Caddell.

Based in the Volunteer Rooms, Ifound Drama meets weekly and offers a fun and inspirational music class for people with additional support needs providing an opportunity to socialise and build confidence.

A number of Hansel’s customers attend the class and last year Johnny performed at the charity’s community shop, Hi Street, which is based in Prestwick.

Ifound Drama group founder Johnny Caddell said: “We chose Hansel as the staff are always supportive in class and we wanted to assist the Prestwick shop that Hansel runs.

“Students love raising money and we are looking forward to our next challenge.”

Debbie Campbell, Fundraising Assistant at the charity Hansel added: “The dedication and work Johnny puts into running the drama group is really inspirational.

“We are so grateful for everyone who supported Hansel in this project.”

Hansel is a leading social care provider, based in Symington, offering a range of services to people living with learning difficulties.
