Over 600 free meals were dished up at North Ayrshire Council’s award-winning holiday school meals service over the Christmas break.
The scheme, which provides primary children with a meal and an hour of physical activity each day, ran at a number of locations.
Councillor Jim Montgomerie, Cabinet Member for Place, said: “Yet again, our holiday school meals service has been a great success, ensuring that all primary school age children have access to nutritious food throughout the break, but also keeping them active and allowing them to catch up with friends who they might otherwise not see during the festive period. Our catering staff have done a wonderful job since the start of the initiative, serving up an incredible 21,800 lunches to North Ayrshire children during four main holiday periods over the past 12 months.”
