A Saltcoats charity which provides work preparation for people with additional needs has been given a £51,000 boost.

Input was awarded by the Big Lottery Young Start Fund, which will allow the charity to continue its award-winning course for the next three years.

The charity provides preparation for work for those with additional educational needs. Some of the core elements of the courses are recycling and repairing donated computers.

Stuart Gemmell, project manager at Input, said: “During the programme the trainees are familiarised with technology by recycling computers donated to the charity.

“This course helps to develop the practical and soft skills needed for the workplace.

“Once computers are fully refurbished they are distributed back into the communit.

“Trainees are instilled with a sense of pride as they are able to witness how their work directly aids those in the community.”
