A man is behind bars after admitting to an assault while on bail.
James Murphy, of no fixed abode, breached a bail condition prohibiting him from entering Vernon Street in Saltcoats on December 6.
While within the street, he punched a man on the head. Murphy, 34, also shouted, swore and acted aggressively during a journey between Princes Street, Ardrossan, and Vernon Street on the same date.
On October 14 of last year, Murphy reset a quantity of tools which had been dishonestly appropriated by theft. He also breached bail conditions and used a vehicle without licence or insurance.
At Kilmarnock Sheriff Court, Murphy was jailed for a total of 15 months.
He was admonished and dismissed for the driving offences and given eight penalty points.
