An event celebrating International Women’s Day raised over £500 for North Ayrshire Women’s Aid.
‘Lassies Giein It Laldy’ was an evening of poems and short scenes and took place at Ardrossan Outdoor Bowling Club.
The fundraiser was organised by Ardrossan Academy teacher Debbie Denovan and featured performances from Capall Dorcha Theatre Company.
Debbie said: “It was really good, we managed to raise £535.
“We had such a great turnout, especially as it wasn’t a nice night with the weather. Over 80 people came along, men and women. We also had representatives from North Ayrshire Women’s Aid come along to support us and they spoke about what they do.
“It was a successful evening, everybody enjoyed themselves and had a good laugh.
“I just wanted to do this because it was International Women’s Day. I think there needs to be more arts opportunities within the community, so this was a way to provide that.”
