EGLINTON Parkrun was awash with rain, puddles and teddy bears as runners celebrated the 6th birthday of the popular event.

It was the 302nd running of the parkrun and a hardy band of 106 runners ventured out on Saturday morning in the cold and wet weather to mark the occasion.

First taking place in 2013, the parkrun has went from strength to strength and earlier this year recorded its busiest ever Saturday morning.

Before the runners took instruction from the starter, one of Eglinton’s well known faces took the accolade of ‘Parkrunner of the year’. Tommy Murphy, pictured below left, has completed over 130 runs and celebrated his award by tail walking to make sure everyone got around safely.

And plenty of runners took along teddy bears for the celebrations.

Andy Bryce was the first finisher on Saturday in a time of 18.11, followed by Daniel Graham in 18.18 and Owen McWilliams in 20.02. Fiona Wyper was the first female over the finishing line in a time of 23.04.

Our photographer Charlie Gilmour was there to capture the best of the action.
