CHILDREN at St Winning’s Primary in Kilwinning are well behaved, respectful and keen to learn – that’s what inspectors said after their recent visit to the school.

And there is strong leadership from the headteacher who is supported well by staff across the school who work will in the community, including parents, support agencies and the local parish, which in turn is having a positive impact on the wellbeing and development of the schoolchildren.

The report states that children are well behaved, respectful and are keen to learn. They relate well to each other and school staff and that they are responding well to the opportunities which they have to assume responsibilities both in their learning and in wider aspects of school life.

Although overall the report was positive, it did highlight that staff should continue to develop further the school’s approaches to learning and teaching to raise the attainment levels of all children.

Inspectors are confident that the school will continue to improve and will make no more visits in connection with this inspection.

North Ayrshire Council will inform parents/carers about the school’s progress as part of its arrangements for reporting on the quality of its schools.
