POLICE are encouraging residents to remain vigilant and to look out for potential bogus callers attending at the homes of vulnerable neighbours.
PC Johnson of Irvine Police said: “These criminals can be very convincing and often they specifically target the elderly or vulnerable members of our communities.
“Bogus callers try to get into your home or obtain personal details by pretending to be someone they’re not, including council staff, charity collectors, meter readers and police officers. In reality, they are criminals trying to steal money and valuables.
“We are asking everyone to follow our doorstep safety advice, to please look out for neighbours, pass this information to family and friends, and to report anything that appears suspicious."
