Residents are being requested to help Spring clean Kilwinning.

Promoting Kilwinning are again supporting the National Clean Up Scotland campaign by arranging Clean ups across Kilwinning over the month of May.

There are two ways to participate in the Spring clean up:

1. Decide which part of the town you want to improve and let Promoting Kilwinning know. You could clean up the litter around your home or in your street or you could get a small group together and target a bigger area that has become an eye sore. If you need grabbers, gloves, or bin bags contact Promoting Kilwinning (phone 01294 552284)

2. Join one of Promoting Kilwinning’s organised events:

Join the 2nd Kilwinning Boys Brigade and Girl Guides on Saturday, May 4 from 10am to noon for a litter pick along Whitehirst Park road. Meet at the roundabout at Meadow Park Road.

Join the Kilwinning Sports Club’s Spring Clean on Saturday and Sunday on May 10 or May 11. See the Kilwinning Sports Club website for more information.

Join the Scottish Wildlife Trust on Saturday May 11 at 10am at Corsehillmuir Wood Kilwinning near the five points junction on Fergushill Rd.

Join the 19th Ayrshire Scouts, cubs or Beavers who will also be having several clean ups around the town on Saturday May 25. The Scouts will meet at the Scout hut at 10am till noon. The cubs and beavers will meet at Cranberry Moss and the Wednesday Scouts will cleanup around the Nethermains area. Exact times will be posted on the Promoting Kilwinning Facebook page.

Accountancy in Bankruptcy Staff are planning to clean up the cycle path underpass to St, Winins P. S. Time and date to be confirmed.

All Kilwinning schools have clean ups so ask when your child’s school is having their clean up.

Litter pickers and bags will be provided at all events. If you have gloves please bring them with you. Wear sturdy shoes.

Please check the Promoting Kilwinning’s Facebook page for updates.

Promoting Kilwinning hopes to have a large positive response to its 2019 Spring clean up. Promoting Kilwinning volunteers who have already “Adopted a spot” to keep litter free are being asked to make an extra thorough clean up of their spot during the clean up. Promoting Kilwinning also hope that more volunteers “adopt a spot”.

North Ayrshire Council will be targetting areas of flytipping throughout May so if there is a bad spot near you please report it to the Promoting Kilwinning Clean up team on 552284

If we all do a “litter bit” we can make a big difference to Kilwinning.
