Ardrossan Castle’s big archaeological dig is underway
THE biggest ever archaeological dig inside the grounds of Ardrossan Castle is underway.
The digging which began on Tuesday, May 14, will continue until Saturday, May 18, with archaeologists and volunteers unearthing the rich and fascinating history of the castle’s grounds.
Ardrossan Castle Heritage Society, who are behind the event, are encouraging residents to come along to see how the dig is progressing throughout the week.
The group said they would be “delighted” to welcome visitors to the dig. On Saturday, May 18, there will also be crafts and activities for children and tours of the castle will take place.
