Disruption is expected at a busy Ardrossan junction for at least the rest of this afternoon as a company carries out roadworks.
According to North Ayrshire Council, Openreach is carrying out works beside the junction at Princes Street and Glasgow Street.
Temporary traffic lights are in operation and the pedestrian crossings have been taped off.
The disruption is expected to last throughout until tomorrow afternoon.
An Openreach spokesperson said: “Our contractor expects to complete work by lunchtime tomorrow. The temporary traffic lights will remain in place until then but will be manually controlled tonight to make sure the traffic flows as smoothly as possible.
“We only carry out roadworks when we need to install or repair communication links like phone lines, broadband and digital connections for businesses, or network components like damaged manhole covers which could be a hazard for drivers.
“We work with the relevant road authorities and try to minimise disruption wherever we can, for example by working outside the rush hour when roads are busiest.
“In Ardrossan, one of our contractors is carrying out a repair to a footway chamber which houses equipment. We’re sorry for any impact on traffic meantime.”
