TWO youngsters rallied together to repair a 'bug hotel' at Eglinton Park in the third instance of vandalism there in as many weeks.

The park reported that the innovative outdoor structure, which was designed and built by Junior Rangers, fell victim to vandals. This follows the damage caused to the ancient Ice House and the community defibrillator at the park.

But two girls who are on a work placement at the country park took it upon themselves to rebuild.

The park posted on their Facebook that Alex and Hallie rebuilt it and rangers are hopeful that bugs and beasts can check-in once again.

They said: "Sad to report that the Bug Hotel built by our Junior Rangers was vandalised recently, however, thanks to Alex and Hallie, two of our work placement young people, it has now been rebuilt, and hopefully a variety of minibeasts will move in soon.

"Thank you girls, we need more young people with your positive attitude and work ethic."
