ON Friday night Saltcoats pulled off a big scalp to secure a narrow victory over current league champions West Kilbride

The sun was shining as week two of the North Ayrshire Bowling League saw just one bonus point win, a Garnock Valley derby and a winning start for Ardrossan.

But it was Kilwinning who jumped to top of the table by virtues of a solid away win to Largs Halkshill, they recorded a 4-0 win by 91 shots to 67 and moved a point clear of Dalry and Glengarnock, who faced off against Kilbirnie.

The joint team snuck over the line with 94 shots to Kilbirnie's 79 for their second 4-0 win in as many weeks.

Saltcoats hosted West Kilbride in a match that went right down to the wire. Just two shots separated the sides after the last end was played with Saltcoats winning by 75-73 to win 4-1.

Ardrossan played their first match of the season after missing week one due to Skelmorlie being expelled from the league and started brightly with a 22 shot win over Ardeer by 81 shots to their visitors 59.

And it was a romp for Largs BC as they scored the only bonus winning point of the week with a 104-57 win over Ardeer Rec.

There will be no games this week as a mark of respect for the passing and funeral service of David Scaife.
