HUNGRY people from throughout Ayrshire and beyond descended on Saltcoats at the weekend for the first ever Saltcoats Food Fest.

Organised by Saltcoats Community Council, the event took place on both Saturday and Sunday with a huge variety of different vendors selling their goods to eager locals.

From burgers to burritos, cupcakes to craft beer, there really was something for everyone.

Local entertainment providers Little and Large provided live music throughout both days and there was also inflatables and bouncy castles for children to enjoy.

Hazel Haddow, secretary of Saltcoats Community Council, said: "We were delighted with the turn out over the weekend and the weather was on our side.

"We would like to thank the funders National Lottery and Argyle Community Centre for making this event happen. We also received a lot of support from local businesses such as The Café at the Station, Clyde Studios and Gregor Watson.

"It was our intention when planning the event to create a fun family day out with free kids’ entertainment and good food and drink on offer and I believe we achieved that from the response we received.

"Saltcoats Community Council created an opportunity for local businesses to attend and promote their products/produce free of charge and that seemed to be a great success for the businesses that attended. We owe a great thanks to all of the community that attended the event and their ongoing support with other projects and events.

"Overall, the event was a great success and we are looking forward to planning next year's Food Fest 2020."
