Kilwinning Garden Awards are back after a decade away.

Kilwinning Community Council in conjunction with the Kilwinning Horticultural Society have resurrected the annual Garden Awards after they were found in the loft of a member of the public.

The three awards are The Bobby Miller Trophy for the Best Back Garden, The Rose Bowl for the Best Front Garden and The Fullarton Shield for the Best Vegetable Garden.

The garden must be in Kilwinning (allotments allowed), personally maintained and the gardener must be a Kilwinning Resident.

And this year a new Community Garden Award will be aimed at gardens or planters based within Schools and Community Centres and the rules are the same with the added stipulation that young people (for schools) and members of the community ( for Centres) have to be involved in the planting and upkeep of the garden area.

Kilwinning Community Council said: “These awards haven’t been awarded in over a decade and we felt it was about time to bring them back. These awards will recognise the best gardens in Kilwinning and will be presented at the annual Kilwinning Flower Show.

Forms will be available online and in shops and the library. For more information visit the Kilwinning Community Council Facebook page.
