Fox cubs, badger babies and hand-reared chicks will be among the highlights at Hessilhead Wildlife Rescue’s Open Day this weekend.

The fun family day will take place at the centre in Gateside, near Beith, from 12-4pm on Sunday, June 9.

There will be tours around some of the enclosures, the chance to see fox cubs, badger cubs, cygnets, ducklings, owls and many nestling birds being hand-reared. There will also be a variety of stalls and children’s activities.

A spokesperson for Hessilhead Wildlife Rescue said ahead of the event: “We are having a busy time rearing lots of baby birds and caring for injured animals. There will lots to see and stalls to enjoy.

“We could also do with more help to get prepared during the week, and if anyone would like to help out on the day please get in touch with us.”

Admission to the open day is £ for adults and free for children. Car parking is free.

Donations of bric-a-brac, books, plants or prizes are welcome from now until the open day.

To help out or to donate items to the stalls, contact the centre on 01505 502415.
