A new exhibition celebrating the wealth of knowledge, heritage and history displayed in North Ayrshire’s museums has opened at the Heritage Centre in Saltcoats.

The North Ayrshire Museums Forum Exhibition is a collaborative event featuring items from the collections of member organisations, including Museum of the Cumbraes, Scottish Maritime Museum, West Kilbride Museum, Largs Museum, Irvine Burns Club, Dalgarven Mill Museum, North Ayrshire Heritage Centre, Arran Heritage Museum, Skelmorlie Secret Bunker and Kilwinning Heritage.

The exhibition covers a wide range of subject matter, from archaeology and items relating to Robert Burns, to our military, maritime and local history.

There is also a selection of paintings from the North Ayrshire Collection.

Councillor Louise McPhater, Cabinet Member for Communities, said: “The North Ayrshire Museums Forum has been in existence for over 30 years, with a current membership of 13 museums and heritage organisations.

“We are thrilled that the Heritage Centre is hosting this exhibition. It features a wealth of interesting artefacts from the collections of Forum members and is well worth a visit.”

The Heritage Centre is open each Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9.30am to 1pm then 2pm to 4.30pm, plus the last Saturday of the month at the same times.
