A KILWINNING man caught with sick child and animal sex images has been banned from contacting children.

Ian Turnbull collected the appalling images over 12 years at an address in Dalry and his current address in Viaduct Circle in Kilwinning.

The 31-year-old appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff court last week and admitted to stashing the vile haul of child abuse images between September 2006 and July 2018.

The court heard during the raid on his home police also found horrifying “explicit and realisitc” bestiality images amongst Turnbull’s haul.

His lawyer Gordon Ghee told the court Turnbull had never committed any kind of offence before and was a “surprising” individual to go before the court.

He said: “He has no previous convictions and is in a stable relationship with his partner and is in full time employment.

“He is a surprising individual to see in custody. He has fully cooperated with me throughout this case. He appears to be someone who won’t be back before the courts. He has learned a lesson in a salutary fashion.”

Sheriff Elizabeth McFarlane sentenced Turnbull to three years supervision and banned him from contacting children or accessing the internet. He was also prohibited from using internet history erasing data and is not allowed to own more than one mobile phone, laptop, desktop or tablet.

Sheriff McFarlane said: “You accept your guilt and have shown remorse and shame and the type of impact this type of offending has on the victims. I’m able to deal with you by way of a non-custodial sentence.”
