A FORMER resource centre in Saltcoats looks set to be transformed in to new flats.

The Springvale Resource Centre was sold by North Ayrshire Council last year to a developer and planning permission has now been asked to turn the disused building into three flats with parking alongside them.

Situated in the town’s McGillivray Avenue, the large building has been empty for a number of months now and planning documents were submitted to the council last week in order to get the ball rolling to transform the empty site in to three state of the art flats.

A decision will be taken soon by council planners but the green light is expected to be given.

The original main part of the property is a two storey structure with pitched slated roofs and facing brick external finish.

A modern single storey extension has been added and this has a tiled pitched roof with facing brick finish.

There are extensive grounds with the building and a surfaced area already functions as a car parking area.
