Police raced to Beith this morning following reports of an aggressive man walking and shouting in the streets armed with offensive weapons.
Multiple police units were deployed at around 6.15am to the town's Blackthorn Avenue and Mains Avenue.
After a search, police traced a 39-year-old man to a nearby address and he was arrested for being in possession of two offensive weapons.
He will appear in court tomorrow.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "At approximately 6.15am on Monday (March 1), police received multiple reports of an aggressive male shouting and in possession of a weapon, walking between Blackthorn Avenue and Mains Avenue, Beith.
"Multiple police units attended and the 39-year-old Beith man was traced to an address nearby.
"He was arrested for a S.38 Criminal Justice and Licensing Scotland Act 2010, and for being in possession of two offensive weapons.
"He is currently in custody and will appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on March 2."
