FIVE people had to be treated at the scene following a hit-and-run crash at the Pennyburn Roundabout.
Police were called to the incident on the busy A78 roundabout earlier today, Saturday July 1, following the two vehicle crash.
Of the five people treated at the scene, one man had to be taken to hospital.
Road users who were around the scene at the time of the crash reported hour long tailbacks between the Stevenston roundabout heading towards Irvine.
Now, following the crash - which was described as a "hit-and-run" - a man has been arrested in connection to this, for road traffic offences.
A Police Scotland Spokesperson said: "Around 4pm on Saturday, 1 July, 2023 officers were called to Pennyburn roundabout in the Stevenston area of the A78, following a hit-and-run after a two vehicle crash.
"Emergency services attended and treated five people at the scene. One person was taken to hospital.
"A 48-year-old man was arrested for road traffic offences."
