SMOKE and flames were seen billowing from the Ardeer industrial estate in Stevenston late last night, Wednesday July 5.
Images were shared with the Herald which appear to show large flames and thick smoke coming from the area around the Stevenston Water Treatment Works.
However, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) was able to confirm that the blaze did not affect the building.
It said that the fire affected an area of gorse close to the building on Lundholm Road.
Three appliances raced to the scene last night and extinguished the blaze - with no injuries reported from the scene.
A SFRS spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 11.38pm on Wednesday, July 5 to reports of a fire near to an industrial premises at Lundholm Road, Stevenston.
“Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances and firefighters extinguished a fire affecting an area of gorse.
“There were no reported casualties and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”
