YOUNG Caroline McCafferty (right) glowed with happiness after being crowned Longbar Gala Queen by veteran ex-councillor Jimmy Jennings on Saturday. The 15-year-old and her attendants, little Adam Latter and Edith Davidson – pictured here – performed their duties with pride at the sun-baked Glengarnock event.

A WOMEN’S team were competing in the Three Towns Pool League for the first time.
Gemma Keenan, 34, assistant manager at the NonSuch Snooker Club in Saltcoats formed the NonSuch ladies team and was captaining the side, who will play against 13 men’s teams.
Gemma, from Saltcoats, who reached the quarter finals of the Scottish Ladies Pool Championships, recruited Sarah Cawley, sisters Yvonne Frain and Angie Frain and Anne Hynards, all of Stevenston; Diane Gibson and Mary Townsley from Saltcoats; and Maggie Fulton of Kilmaurs.

Local music teacher, Helen Blackburn, had the pleasure of seeing all her candidates achieve the top band grade of distinction in externally-judged piano examinations. Tutor Helen is pictured with pupils Kenneth Blackburn, James Crook and Alice Crook.

Ardrossan Sea Cadets Chalaina Marshall, Tracy Dougan and Anton Docherty prepared to begin their week-long stint at sea aboard the TS Royalist. The Three Towns youngsters were looking forward to their work on the Sea Cadet training ship.
