A WOMAN has died following a "vehicle fire" in the early hours of Sunday.
Police Scotland confirmed the incident happened at around 3.45am on August 13 on the B780 in Ardrossan.
It is understood that the road, which connects Ardrossan to both West Kilbride and Dalry, was closed for a period of time following the fire.
Police attended the incident alongside emergency service partners and the fire was extinguished.
A 56-year-old woman involved was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Sadly, she later passed away.
Police Scotland say that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
A force spokesperson said: “Around 3.45am on Sunday, August 13, 2023 we were called to a report of a vehicle fire off the B780, Ardrossan.
“Emergency services attended and the fire was extinguished.
“A 56-year-old woman was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary by ambulance, where she later died.
"Enquiries have established there were no suspicious circumstances and a report was submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
