A KIND-hearted care worker is planning to take on a 30-mile trek in a bid to raise vital funds for a dementia charity.
Declan Griffin, 22, works as a care assistant at Buckreddan Care Centre in Kilwinning and knows just how big an impact dementia can have on a person's life.
It was that which inspired the young man to attempt to make a difference - in more ways in just his typical working week.
So on December 7, Declan will be taking to the streets and walking along the Ayrshire coastline until he hits the magic 30-mile mark.
"The line of work I’m in, I’m dealing with a lot of people who are suffering from dementia," he said.
"I want to set my self a challenge to raise money for charity to help people who are suffering.
"I think it will be a difficult challenge to hit but I’m pushing myself as much as I can."
Declan has set himself a goal of raising £1,000 from his charity trek, which he will be completing in aid of Dementia UK, with any donations greatly appreciated.
