Stevenston woman Maggie Boyce and her friends were in the pink in 2013 - raising £580 for Breast Cancer Care. They raised the money at a fundraising Pink Party at Tait’s Tavern with a rosy pink theme. Maggie was diagnosed with breast cancer 11 years earlier, and having recovered had held parties for the last decade to raise cash for the charity.
A Beith student engineered a top award after finishing his apprenticeship in 2013. Darren Anderson, 23, emerged as Best Student in the SVQ Level 3 Agricultural Engineering course at Scotland’s Rural College. He received his award from West Lothian Provost Tom Kerr.
St Bridget’s Primary School in Kilbirnie tackled a homework challenge in the lead up to Hallowe’en 2013. The children had to create a carving from any fruit or vegetables including carrots, pumpkins and even a butternut squash.
Tass Thistle Under 13s Girls were preparing for a charity match in November 2013 to raise funds for Children in Need. The side took on their parents, both mums and dads, while wearing their pyjamas…
Whitehirst Park Primary school enjoyed Hallowe’en 2013 as the whole school donned their best costumes for the afternoon.
The Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Team paid a visit to Hayocks Primary School in Stevenston in November 2013 as part of a school project. Coastguard Rescue Officers Rodger McBride and Kevin Paterson spoke with pupils from Primaries 2 and 3 to assist them with their project on ‘People Who Help Us’.
