THE organisers of the Saltcoats Sea Queen festival have announced the royal party who will lead the events in 2024.
Eight youngsters from primary seven classes across the town have been selected to play a major role in the annual event which is set to take place in July.
This year's Sea Queen elect will be Kiera-Leigh Conway from Caledonia Primary School while St Anthony's Liam O'Hagan will be the festival's captain.
The duo were named into the roles by organisers Emma Paterson and John Glen, who were joined in the selection committee by the Kandy Bar's Stephen McAllister and Anita London from the Saltcoats Labour Club, where the announcement was hosted earlier this week.
Also selected on the day were the Sea Queen's three ladies-in-waiting, with Sophie Baker from Mayfield Primary chosen alongside Dykesmains pair Beth Hood and Maisie Brown.
Completing the royal party will be three buccaneers in the form of Colin O'Reilly from Caledonia Primary, Robbie Difolco from Dykesmains, and Jayden Alexander from Mayfield.
It was a tough selection process for the panel, who congratulated all the youngsters who put their name forward.
Organisers commented: "We would also like to say a special thank you Anita Loudon, Emma Paterson, John Glen and Stephen McAllister for having the very difficult job of being part of the selection panel.
"It was a tough decision for the selection panel, as all the children were amazing.
"Congratulations to our royal party."
The festival is due to take place in July.
However, before then, a table top sale to raise funds for the event will be held at St Mary's Church Hall in Saltcoats on Sunday, May 5.
The sale runs from 1.30pm until 3.30pm. For more information see the 'Saltcoats Sea Queen' page on Facebook.
