ARRAN Brewery’s ‘Arran Dark’ beer will be going for UK success - after it picked up the Scottish Championship in the mild category.

Arran Dark added this title to its long list of awards including the Wolds Best Dark Brown Beer in 2012.

And it will now travel to London in August to try and capture the UK crown.

Arran’s Managing Director Gerald Michaluk said: “I am very proud of our excellent brewery team who have consistently, over many years, kept Arran Dark at the very highest levels of excellence despite ferocious competition from some extraordinary fellow craft brewers and the big multinationals with their “crafty beer offerings”.

Arran Dark has come full circle as in 2000, on its launch, it won the “Beer of the Festival” title in a CAMRA festival in Renfrew, now 17 years on it is still winning awards.

Gerald went on to say: “There are a lot of new beer drinkers out there introduced by the new wave of craft brewers, which we are proud to be classed as.

“These new drinkers are looking for quality over quantity and as their palates become educated they are being drawn more and more to these fantastic ales.

“With great malt and less hops they offer the drinker a more balanced taste experience and less of the, at times, monotone hoppyness some new wave beers can only offer.”

The Arran Brewers uses only Scottish Barley and has invested over £300,000 on the first phase of its redevelopment of its brewery on Arran.
