THIS year the Arran Runners’ Isle of Arran Ormidale 10K will take place on Sunday, April 23 with a 12pm start.
As usual the course will start, and end, at the Ormidale Park Sports Pavilion in Brodick, the main ferry port on the Isle of Arran.
The pleasant coastal route heads out on the main road, the A841, to Merkland Point, at the north end of Brodick Bay, and back again, with a short diversion up past Brodick Church to get the distance exact. Runners can expect to enjoy some splendid scenery and possibly even the sight of seals basking on the rocks in front of Brodick Castle. The flat road, newly resurfaced, can only enhance the chance of a PB for serious runners. The race is run under Scottish Athletics rules and anyone 15 years or older may enter. Fun runners and novices are most welcome.
The event is sponsored by ArranShand Business Development Services and Ormidale Hotel.
The 12pm start allows visiting runners, arriving in Brodick on the 9.45am ferry from Ardrossan, (8.40am train from Glasgow Central) to make their way to the Sports Pavilion (1/2 mile from the pier) in good time for the race. Returning ferries leave Brodick at 1.55pm, 4.40pm, and 7.20pm.
Entries should be made on www.sientries.co.uk. Entries are limited to 150.
