AN ARRAN arts group has been given a major funding boost from the National Lottery.

Arran Theatre and Arts Trust will use a £7,494 award to provide opportunities for local school children to engage in creative workshops celebrating Scots vocabulary.

The money is coming from the National Lottery’s Awards for All Scotland which gives grants of between £500 and £10,000 to projects that bring communities together.

An Awards for All spokesperson, said: “Today, we are announcing over £1million that will help communities from across Scotland set up and develop projects run for and by local people.

"What is clear is the smallest amount of funding can often make the biggest difference to people’s lives.

“All of these grants are a great way to show the variety of projects that can be funded through Awards for All.” Across Scotland, 140 community groups will sharing National Lottery funding worth £1,010,732.
