Police Scotland has released an images of a man they wish to identify in connection with the armed robbery of a Dalry bookies on New Year's Day.

The incident happened around 5pm when a man threatened members of staff with a weapon at the Coral Bookmakers in New Street.

Officers were called after reports that a man had entered the premises and threatened the 20-year-old female and 26-year-old male shop assistants with what appeared to be a firearm and demanded money from them.

He escaped with a three figure sum of money without firing any shots.

Police are now looking to speak to the male pictured and anyone who recognises him is asked to contact police immediately.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing a brown coloured parka with a fur trimmed hood, dark coloured trousers and footwear, gloves and a scarf.
