A GROUP of green-fingered volunteers who have been sprucing up Dalry station’s green spaces have been given a helping hand from Scotrail.

Dalry Station Garden Volunteers meet every Friday to look after the grassy slopes which form what is thought to be the largest station garden in Scotland.

And now the group has safe and secure access to what they hope to turn into a wildflower meadow through a gate provided by Scotrail.

The group have enlisted volunteers in a systematic way, advertising on a community notice-board in the town centre of this former mill town meeting every Friday morning.

John Yellowlees, ScotRail’s External Relations Manager, said: “We are pleased to support Dalry Station Garden Volunteers by providing them with access to the gate.

“This allows them to easily access and maintain the surrounding meadows, so they can be a pleasant area for all to appreciate.”
