THE new Dalry Bypass will be completed by Autumn 2018.
At North Ayrshire Council’s meeting of the full council last Wednesday, Kilwinning Councillor Donald Reid asked a question of the Council Leader, Willie Gibson, about how progress was coming along.
The Leader pointed out that the the procurement process had begun to find those to design and construct the bypass in late March.
Cllr Gibson said: “Excellent progress is being made to advance the construction of the Dalry Bypass.
“The Scottish Government’s budget for 2016/17, announced by the Deputy First Minister on the December 16, made provision to progress procurement of the A737 Dalry Bypass.
“The procurement process formally commenced on the March 22 following the publication of a contract notice on the Public Contracts Scotland website for the design, construction, completion and maintenance of the bypass.
“It is anticipated that the contract will be awarded in early 2017 with works being completed by Autumn 2018.”
Cllr Reid said that he was grateful to his SNP counterpart for his response after ‘many false promises, sometimes in the lead up to elections’.
