SCOTTISH Water has donated some water main pipe and concrete to the Top Tots Nursery in Kilbirnie, as they progress with a flooding project.

In liaison with contractors George Leslie, who are working for Scottish Water on a £1m project to tackle flooding, they have given the nursery at St Columba’s Church a number of 2m to 3m-long sections of plastic pipe for use at the nursery and in its playground.

They also donated about five cubic metres of concrete to be used in a hard-standing area.

Marjorie Riddell, manager of the nursery, said: “We are very grateful to Scottish Water, and their contractors George Leslie, for their generous gifts.

“The lengths of pipe will be put to good use at the nursery and should help provide many years of fun for all the children who will use our facilities over the years.

“The concrete will be very useful in providing a hard-standing area where we plan to install a canopy which will provide the children with shelter from the elements.”

Jane McKenzie, Scottish Water’s regional communities team manager, said: “We are delighted to have been able to help the nursery by providing these sections of pipe, which were surplus to requirements, and the concrete.”
