POLICE are appealing for information after a woman was left in a critical condition after she was hit with a car in Beith.

The serious road traffic collision took place at around 8pm on Monday. 
At around 8pm, a Ford Ka was travelling on Caledonian Road, Glengarnock, Beith.

At the same time, a 22-year-old woman left the pavement and entered the road.

The woman was struck by the Ford Ka and was taken the Royal Alexandra Hospital to receive treatment for serious injuries. Medical staff describe her condition as critical.

The driver of the vehicle was uninjured.

Sergeant Andy Johnston from the Divisional Road Policing Unit based at Irvine is appealing for any witnesses to the collision.
