A BRAND new fitness suite has opened in Kilbirnie’s iconic Radio City building.

The new Galaxy Leisure suite was opened by Elma Murray, Chief Executive of North Ayrshire Council, on Monday, May 23.

Complimented by improved changing facilities, increased group exercise classes and a sauna/steam room, the new fitness arena promises to lead the way in promoting health and wellbeing throughout North Ayrshire and beyond.

Ms Murray said: “I am delighted to formally open the new fitness suite at Radio City, Kilbirnie.

“The council together with its Team North Ayrshire partners have been working with Aspire Scotland and Galaxy Leisure on this exciting development which will provide a welcome boost to the local economy and will be enjoyed by the local community and visitors to the area.”

The new fitness centre offers the very best in training facilities with cutting edge equipment to suit everyone’s needs as well as a hand-picked collection of fitness coaches to provide constant support to members and information for visitors.

The improved group exercise timetable features industry favourites such as Metafit and Insanity, as well as in-house specials such as PowerCycle and BodyBurn.

The new suite follows the launch of the now extremely popular American Diner Galaxy Café in 2015.

Galaxy Leisure is the latest venture to be overseen by Aspire Scotland, a national provider of school care accommodation for young people with additional support needs.

Director Eddie McCaffrey said: “As a tenant within Radio City it was never our intention to purchase and run the facility but if we didn’t act, Radio City would undoubtedly have closed.

“Our roots are here in North Ayrshire and we are all about making a difference.”
