A DALRY man has been jailed for almost a year after the stolen car he was driving collided with another car, causing injury to a woman.

Todd Ashford, 25, of Peden Avenue, appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week where he admitted a string of charges against him.

Ashford admitted stealing a car from an address in Kilwinning on January 30 of this year.

He also pleaded guilty to driving in Glasgow whilst under the influence of alcohol and grossly in excess of the speed limit as well as failing to comply with traffic signs and weaving in and out of traffic, narrowly avoiding several collisions before colliding with a vehicle causing injury to a woman.

He also admitted driving the car without a licence and without the relevant insurance.

Ashford was sentenced to 10 months imprisonment and disqualified from driving for a period of two years.
