A FACEBOOK group has been set up to help locals to try and win holidays for a fraction of the price they would pay.

Kilbirnie man James McCallum got the idea for the group from other ‘raffle’ pages on the social networking side but decided he wanted to give something back rather than keeping a share of the profits for himself.

James explained: “Basically the main draw is £10 for a number or you can buy a mini-draw number for £1 to get into the main draw. Any profits go to covering the holidays, spending money and the rest goes to charity.”

James told the Herald that his chosen charity will be the NSPCC because he had dealt with relationship issues in the past and he wanted to give something back.

And you can be in with a chance of a dream getaway after he teamed up with local travel agent, Fraser’s Travel.

James, a self-employed businessman, said that it ‘sounds too good to be true’ but it is really simple.

The group, which is called #GOLIVE Bonus Ball Holiday Raffles, will keep users up to date with progress and James expects the first winners to be chosen in around six-eight weeks time.

Once all the numbers between 1-500 are chosen, a random draw will be made and this whittles the numbers down before there is eventually a winner who can get a holiday worth £3,500, £1,000 spending money and £500 to charity or they can have £4,500 in holiday vouchers and £500 to charity.
