COMMUNITY group Project Kilbirnie received a £500 cheque from a landowner to help develop their latest venture.

Daniel Connolly, from Northern Ireland, owns Place Woodland in the town and Project Kilbirnie have recently taken up stewardship of the site. The group plan to run it as a community interest project, offering education in woodland management and outdoor skills.

Ian Shaw from Project Kilbirnie said: “Project Kilbirnie have quite a few projects going on in the town and we hope to encourage more volunteers.”

Anthea Dickson, Councillor for Kilbirnie and Beith, added: “I was pleased to be able to have a short meeting with Mr Connolly of Place Estate with the Project Kilbirnie team to see what activity would be mutually beneficial.

“The Project Kilbirnie team are doing a great job identifying projects that could improve the local environment and I am happy to support them to achieve these ends.”
