A WOMAN has been fined £320 after forcing her way into a man’s house and assaulting him in front of a young child.

Nikki Gibson, 26, from Dalry, plead guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by banging on the front door.

She admitted acting in an aggressive manner towards him, trying to force her way into the house and then kicking him in the stomach when he refused her entry.

The court heard how Gibson and the victim had been drinking earlier at the property in Dalry.

An argument broke out and Gibson left to go home but returned at 11.30pm. She banged on the door demanding to be let in to pick up clothes.

The victim refused entry and Gibson tried to barge past him into the house.

An 11-year-old child who was asleep in the property upstairs heard the noise and came downstairs and asked what was happening. Gibson then kicked her the man in the stomach.

Defending Gibson, David McPherson said: “On the night in question drink had been consumed. She foolishly returned to the property and a full argument ensued.”

He added that Gibson was aware that her behaviour “was reprehensible, especially in front of a young child and at that time of night”.

The lawyer said that if his client ever saw the victim again she “will apologise profusely”.

He also pointed out that Gibson, who is working as a hairdresser, was able and willing to pay a fine if Sheriff David Hall was willing to “draw a line under the matter”.

Gibson was ordered to pay £320 at £10 a week.
