TWO people have been hospitalised following a serious two-car collision between Dalry and Kilbirnie this afternoon.

Five people were involved in the accident, which happened on the B780 road, near to the Romeo and Juliet Inn, known locally as the Dalry Inn.

Firefighters, ambulance and police were all in attendance at the scene. Firefighters and police were still in attendance two hours later.

A spokeswoman from Police Scotland confirmed that two people were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

A spokesman for Fire Scotland said: “Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 2.36pm on Thursday, October 10 to reports of a road traffic collision on the B780 Dalry to Kilbirnie Road in Ayrshire.

“Operation control immediately deployed two engines to the scene. Firefighters assisted five casualties and referred them to the care of awaiting ambulance crews.”

Drivers have been diverted and should expect delays.
