A BEITH taxi driver has raised over £320 for the Beatson Cancer Charity at the Glasgow Santa Dash 2016.
Noel Hamilton, who drives the St Bridget’s Primary School bus and is well known in the Garnock Valley as a local cab driver, joined thousands of other ‘Santas’ for the event on Sunday, December 11.
This was the first time Noel had taken part in a 5k event and the dad of three was overwhelmed to find lots of support from the local community.
The Smugglers Tavern and Masonic Jacz, both in Beith, Noel’s team-mates at Kilbirnie Football Club’s Super Veterans, his taxi customers, and the parents of St Bridget’s children all helped sponsor the 67-year-old in his challenge.
Noel, who lives in Kilbirnie, told the Herald that he couldn’t wait to get involved in next year’s Santa Dash.
He said: “I’d definitely like to do it again, but I’ll wait until I get Christmas and New Year out the way before I think about it. It’s for a good cause.
“I would like to thank everyone who supported me.”
