A PERVERTED babysitter exposed himself to an underage girl on a webcam from another room in his house while he was looking after her.

Craig Macmillan, of Beith, is now facing jail for forcing the girl to look at pornographic images and trying to pay her to perform sex acts on him.

Macmillan, 43, got hold of the youngster’s email address and hounded her for a video chat during an eight-year reign of terror against her and another youngster.
His first victim, who was just 14 or 15 at the time, repeatedly ignored his online advances but eventually gave in and accepted his request to video chat.

When the video loaded up she was shocked to see the person she was looking at was sitting in the living room of the house she was in.

And when the panicked school pupil closed down the computer to stop seeing Macmillan he raced up the stairs, burst in to the room she was in and pounced on her - giving her a hug.

Macmillan, a salesman, maintained his innocence, telling the jury in his Paisley Sheriff Court trial: “I wouldn’t do that.”

But the jury didn’t buy his lies and this week convicted him of forcing the girl to look at a sexual image by exposing himself to her on the webcam and sending her messages asking her to perform sex acts.

He was placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register after he was also found guilty of repeatedly sexually assaulting another youngster.

And he now faces a lengthy jail term when he returns to the dock at Paisley Sheriff Court next month.

His first victim, now 25, said the incident took place at his home in Bishopton, Renfrewshire, between June 2005 and June 2007.

She said she was on a computer in a bedroom in the house and was using MSN Messenger when a friend request came through.

She explained: “They claimed they knew my friends. I didn’t believe them at first. It led to them claiming they’d prove I’d recognise them.

“I got a call on the webcam but I declined at first. They were persistent and kept calling me.”

But the girl knew it was Macmillan who was exposing himself to her before she shut down the webcam.

She explained: “He was in [the] living room - I recognised the picture on the wall and the TV in the background.

“There was just myself and Craig in the house at the time.

“He came right up behind me and gave me a hug and asked if I was okay.

“I felt as if I just had to get out of there. I left, I went out of the room and out of the house.”

She also told the jury that he would leave pornographic images on the computer for her to see - with requests for her to perform sex acts on him.

Macmillan also denied repeatedly sexually assaulting another young girl at the same property between September 2008 and August 2013 - when she was aged between 10 and 14.

But the jury ruled he regularly exposed himself to her, grabbed her body and touched her private parts.

In February last year, Macmillan was convicted of making sexual remarks to youngsters.

Sheriff James Spy called for Macmillan, now of Beith’s St Inan’s Drive, to be assessed by social workers and an organisation that works with sex offenders.

He warned him: “The fact I’m continuing bail doesn’t mean the sentence you’ll receive will be a non-custodial disposal.”
